Ink development for the additive manufacturing of strong green parts by layerwise slurry deposition (LSD‐print)

چکیده

Abstract Obtaining dense fine ceramics by the binder jetting additive manufacturing process is challenging. A slurry‐based process, such as layerwise slurry deposition (LSD‐print) can enable printing of ceramic parts. This work describes a procedure to develop and qualify suitable ink manufacture silicon carbide green parts LSD‐print. Not only printability but also compatibility with powder bed effect binding agent on properties are considered. Both aspects important obtain high strength, which necessary for large or thin‐walled Characterization methods, rheological surface tension measurements, applied optimize three selected inks. The interplay between tested contact angle measurements comparing biaxial strength cast additively manufactured specimens. Out agents tested, polyethyleneimine phenolic resin have potential their use in LSD‐print bodies, whereas polyacrylate did not show required properties.

Additive Manufacturing: Reproducibility of Metallic Parts

The present study deals with the properties of five different metals/alloys (Al-12Si, Cu-10Sn and 316L—face centered cubic structure, CoCrMo and commercially pure Ti (CP-Ti)—hexagonal closed packed structure) fabricated by selective laser melting. The room temperature tensile properties of Al-12Si samples show good consistency in results within the experimental errors. Similar reproducible resu...

Selecting parts for additive manufacturing in service logistics

Purpose – For more than ten years, the value of additive manufacturing (AM) for after-sales service logistics has been propagated. Today, however, only few applications are observed in practice. In this paper, possible reasons for this discrepancy are discussed and a method is developed to simplify the identification of economically valuable and technologically feasible business cases. Design/m...

A Novel Extrusion-based Additive Manufacturing Process for Ceramic Parts

An extrusion-based additive manufacturing process, called the Ceramic On-Demand Extrusion (CODE) process, for producing three-dimensional ceramic components with near theoretical density is introduced in this paper. In this process, an aqueous paste of ceramic particles with a very low binder content (<1 vol%) is extruded through a moving nozzle at room temperature. After a layer is deposited, ...

Additive manufacturing in the spare parts supply chain

As additive manufacturing (AM) evolves to become a common method of producing final parts, further study of this computer integrated technology is necessary. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the potential impact of additive manufacturing improvements on the configuration of spare parts supply chains. This goal has been accomplished through scenario modeling of a real-life spare parts...
